Back to Acoustic?

Things change!  It seems like I will once again be playing a few acoustic shows with Tim Oliver.  It remains to be seen if we will be branded TnT Acoustic Duo once again.  Until then consider it Ty Barnes sitting in with the Tim Oliver Project.

More Changes

Due to a series of unfortunate events, I am no longer playing with the TnT Acoustic Duo.  There is no animosity or ill feeling between me and Tim Oliver and I wish him only the best.  I loved playing with him, the places we played, the fans we made, and all the good times.

In August 2018 I moved from guitar to bass in Distorted Silence.  I will be on bass for the foreseeable future as we have decided to remain a four-piece band.

After a few fill in shows with the Alan Carl Band I was asked to join as their guitar player.

Check out my calendar for all my show dates.

Return to Rocking

I will be playing guitar with Distorted Silence in 2018!  My debut gig with Distorted Silence is March 2nd at Shaker's Bar & Grill.  Distorted Silence is a rock cover band that plays the songs you love but don't hear covered as much as you would like.

I will also continue playing with Shakin' and Stirred for all your dance party needs, T-n-T Acoustic with an encyclopedia of songs, and 4 Finger Shot for all your heavy rockin' needs \m/

There is even the potential of some original music coming in 2018 so stay tuned!

Stratocaster Shootout Podcast Test

On 10/27/2016 I set up a quick recording to compare my three Stratocasters.  I wanted to hear the differences between them to see if one sounds best.  The three guitars are: Felix The Strat a 1988 Fender American Standard Stratocaster (Pewter), a 2015 Fender Special Edition David Lozeau Art Series Standard Stratocaster (Blue Dragons), and Sonic The Shredhog a 2012 Warmoth hardtail Stratocaster (Sonic Blue).  The American Standard Stratocaster has Seymour Duncan pickups in it: Custom Stack Plus (STK-S6) in the Bridge, Classic Stack Plus (STK-S4m) in the Middle, and a Classic Stack Plus (STK-S4n) in the neck.  The Dragons Stratocaster has Fender Standard Stratocaster pickups in all positions.  The Warmoth has DiMarzio pickups in it: Injector (DP423) in the Bridge, Area '61 (DP416) in the Middle, and Injector (DP422) in the Neck.  All examples were played through a 2014 Fender Blues Junior Tweed amp with a Jensen C12N speaker that has been modified by Rob Chafe with the "kitchen sink" mod.  There was a 10' Live Wires cable between the guitars and amp.  My voice was recorded with an Audio Technica AT2035 and the amp was recorded with a Sennheiser e609 Silver.  Everything was recorded and mixed on a Tascam DP-24.  WARNING: My playing is very sloppy in this.  I'm sorry.

Gone Country?

When the end of 4 Finger Shot was eminent near the end of June 2016 I was invited to join the Country cover band TailGatorz as their second guitarist.  I have accepted the challenge of exploring a new style of playing not to mention learning over 40 songs!  My debut with TailGatorz will be Thursday August 11th at The Lazy Chameleon in Powell, OH.  I'm excited to take on this new challenge in my musical journey!  Yee-Haw!

New Site

Hello everybody and welcome to my new site!  Honestly, maintaining a web site "the old fashioned way" is very time consuming and takes certain skills that I'm frankly not that good at.  So, I went with Bandzoogle and I'm up and running in days instead of weeks or even months!

I'm glad you visited my site and hope you check back periodically to keep up with what I'm up to.

Expect lots of changes in the short term and feel free to drop me a note!
